When gutters are blocked, rainwater spills down your property walls and possibly into your home. Then you have to deal with damp issues, mould, water damage and all the extra expenses to repair them.
That's why emptying your gutters should be part of your regular maintenance for your property. How often should you clean guttering? At least once a year, more if you are in an area where there are a lot of leaves, and other debris that accumulate on the roof and gutters.
At the end of autumn gutters are full of fallen leaves, and in early spring there is a lot of buildup from winter months. So these are usually the best times to schedule gutter vacuuming and maintenance.
Some of the obvious signs are rainwater spilling over the gutter, leaking through joints or birds and other small animals nesting there. You might also notice bulging and sagging of the gutters, or leaking of water inside the house (ceiling or inner walls) along with damp and mould. Don’t wait for these visible signs of blockage though! Get your gutters cleared on a regular basis as part of your property maintenance.
At Pure Aqua we use a high-reach, high-powered gutter vacuum. This allows us to do our work effectively, while safely on the ground. We can even reach awkwardly placed guttering where there is no space for ladders. Check out this video of our gutter vacuum in action.
We do not recommend this as the high water pressure can damage your gutters. Also, you will need to get on the roof or on ladders to use the pressure washer. That means additional to risk of damage to your property and safety hazard for the person operating the pressure washer as well.
